From maths teacher to dive instructor. Still helping things click.
Hi, I’m Lex. I spent around ten years teaching mathematics before swapping the classroom for life as a dive instructor on Koh Tao. The setting changed, but the part I enjoy most stayed exactly the same: helping someone understand something that first felt difficult, and seeing the moment it clicks.

Complex skills become manageable steps.
Students often describe my teaching as calm, clear and patient, but also positive, relaxed and fun. That balance matters to me. Diving should be taken seriously, but learning it does not need to feel heavy.
Safety always comes first, and my goal is not simply to tick off a list of skills and send you away with a certification. I want to prepare you to dive well, make good decisions, enjoy yourself and become a confident, capable diver within your training and limits.
Clear before, calm during, practical afterwards.
Before the course
Planning, requirements and expectations are made clear before training starts.
During training
Skills are explained calmly, observed carefully and practised in a clear sequence, with the pace adapted where needed.
After each step
You get feedback on what is working, what to improve and what comes next. Further training is discussed only when it fits your experience and goals.
